I am always so excited to see African fashion designed to appeal to contemporary fashionistas. Jewel by Lisa is a fabulous collection with very eccentric pieces that makes me so proud to be African. The collection was created by Lisa Folawiyo, a Nigerian beauty who stormed into the fashion scene in 2004.
Jewel By Lisa has been featured in This Day Africa Rising Festival in London. The collection was showcased at Arise Fashion Week in Johannesburg, South Africa. It has also been featured in Glamour, The New York Post, Style.com, Women's Wear Daily and other prestigious magazines.
Here are some of the pieces. Enjoy!
Okay, I am near-sighted and a glass wearer. I have to say I love these glasses and I am currently searching for a similar pair. Oh and I love the T-shirt too. I am so excited, I'll be in New York in a few weeks and I cannot wait to snag a pair.
The collection is ItuenBasi and according to their website, the line is a celebration of the ubiquitous Nigerian print in all its glory. I absoloutely fell in love with the 'ankara and beads' collection and the extravagant colorfulness of the line. The designs also take on a very feminine shape and coupled with the uniquness of the prints, they are to die for.
Key pieces includes fitted evening dresses, 70's inspired tunics, relaxed flapper inspired dresses and ankara accessories.
