Her name is Somi and her voice is as captivating and beautiful as she is. Somi was born in Illinois to immigrants from Rwanda and Uganda, then spent her early years in Zambia. She sings in English and three East African languages and her vocal delivery is subtle yet the power she exerts in enormous. As her career has taken off, Somi's talents have been called upon for collaborations and live performance with such greats as John Legend, Cassandra Wilson and Mos Def.
